You can compose a piece of choral music based on the theme of “New Horizons”!

Perhaps you could imagine what the world will be like after the coronavirus pandemic has finished and set that to music for SATB?

Don’t worry if you’ve never done anything like this before.  You never know, you might have a hidden talent that was just waiting for an opportunity like this to express itself.  All composers have to start somewhere and just sitting down and creating something new is a remarkable achievement that most people never accomplish.

When Gabriel Fauré was just nineteen years old he entered a composition competition with a piece called Cantique de Jean Racine.  If you’ve never heard it go and Google it now and you may be inspired.

There are now just 3 months left to enter the 2020 Walter Hussey Composition Competition so don’t delay any longer, get writing.

Reading Phoenix Choir are currently promoting young people’s involvement in music and just before the lockdown combined with Berkshire Young Voices and Berkshire Children’s Choir in a fantastic concert performance at the Reading Concert Hall in front of a packed and enthusiastic audience.

Before that Reading Phoenix Choir spent a day at St Mary’s Church in Burghfield recording 3 of the entries to the 2018 Walter Hussey Composition Competition, so get composing and your work could be soon be appearing on Spotify!
